As I have posted before, I think a lot of this stinks.
It feels to me like Ms. Ford ultimately felt backed into this, when the story came out publicly. I don't have a great impression of how the dems handled this. But that doesn't mean the accuser is lying or is doing anything untoward.
You seem to be saying that even if there were hard corroboration of the assault she accuses him of, you'd ignore it because it happened when they were in High School. Those days would appear to be behind us. When talking about a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land, I think a significant majority of the country would strongly disagree with you. If the Trump admin agrees she should be heard, sounds to me like the Trump admin disagrees with you.
Absent any other corroboration, I'd be surprised if Kavanaugh weren't confirmed by the end of next week, give or take. And that's how it should be IMO in the case of a he said-she said from nearly 40 years ago.
But that certainly doesn't mean I'd be ok with a lifetime appt to the Supreme Court if there were reasonable evidence (beyond just her statement and the statements she made to her marriage therapist) of guilt here. I feel the way I do because Kavanaugh denies it, and he deserves the same presumption of innocence as any citizen, and at least so far, there is no evidence that his denial is false or that this has been a pattern. But given where we are today, Ford certainly should have the opportunity to speak if she chooses.
